opiate — オピエート
One of a group of alkaloids derived from the opium poppy (Papaver somniferum) with the ability to induce analgesia, euphoria, and, in higher doses, stupor, coma, and respiratory depression. The term opiate excludes synthetic opioids.

アヘンが取れるケシ（Papaver somniferum種）から生成したアルカロイドのグループで、鎮痛、多幸感、および多用時には昏迷、昏睡、呼吸抑制を引き起こす。オピエートという用語には、合成オピオイドは含まない。
